That’s easy…Monarca Ink ‘Cardona.’ Sooo beautiful!

For those unfamiliar with it, Mountain of Ink has a review at https://mountainofink.com/blog/monarca-cardona.

I don’t know if it’s the ink I’d pick specifically to match this color of the year, but I did just ink up one of my TWSBI Ecos with Noodler’s Black Swan in English Roses. Not bad for pure coincidence.

That was the first ink I thought of when I saw the swatch. 🙂

It’s a great color ink. One of my favorites.

After your comments, I loaded it into a Lamy Studio F. They’ve never played together before but BSER is a very nice match for the pen.

Oh, nice! I haven’t used a Lamy Studio before, but recently I’ve been enjoying writing with my Lamy Allstar.

The model I have is brushed stainless steel and heavy compared to my other pens though it is very well balanced. I have a couple of AL-Stars and Safaris but am no longer comfortable with the grip. The Studio is more to my liking in that respect. The nib is the same and I only upgraded when an advantageous opportunity came along. It is one of the few pens in addition to my Platinums and Delikes that is almost always inked. Today is a good example of my rotation with the Lamy F joined by a Platinum #3776 Century M, a Delike EF, and two Delike fudes. The inks are just as varied with JH Poussiere de Lune, Noodler’s BSER, and three from Diamine, Earl Gray, Dark Brown and Eau de Nil. Not seasonal but very satisfying. What’s on your desk?

I’ve currently got my Lamy All-Star F (blue cartridge), TWBSI Eco EF (BSER), a HongDian Light of Hope F (Diamine Golden Ivy), Platinum Maki-E F (blue cartridge) and my Pilot Custom 74 (Herbin Lie de The). The only one that feels particularly seasonal is the Light of Hope, since it’s a green metal pen with green sparkly ink. I hadn’t planned to have two pens with basic blue cartridges in them, but somehow that’s what happened.

Nice selection. Carts can be sneaky pests making their way into all sorts of pens. 😉

I got Diamine Amaranth for my birthday in 2022. I used it recently, and it came to mind when you asked about a matching ink.

Well that is a likely contender. I wonder if I have a sample somewhere…

If not, I could send you a sample.

Thank you for the offer. It encouraged me to review old swatches and I came across a few likely contenders including Montblanc Bordeaux as well as Diamine Syrah and Oxblood. At least they are in the right range under artificial light. Perhaps daylight will eliminate them but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Maybe the Amaranth will turn up when I look for the other inks. I love a good treasure hunt.
