Giveaway: Herbin “1798” Jacques Herbin Amethyste de l’Oural Fountain Pen Ink
08/01/2017Herbin’s new “1798” Jacques Herbin Amethyste de l’Oural fountain pen ink was announced today with availability slated for September 1, 2017. It’s a lovely color with glints of silver that reminds me of an amethyst and platinum ring my mother bequeathed my daughter. Purple and silver are beautiful together, subtle but elegant.
Karen at Exaclair, Inc., the U.S. distributor for Herbin, gave me a bottle that I am going to give away. To enter, all you have to do is post a comment below about the new ink. One entry per person. Shipping to a U.S. address only. The random drawing will be held August 10, 2017 at 6 pm PDT. The winner will have 48 hours to contact me at inkophile@gmail.com to claim the prize.

Is anyone beside me having trouble finding a good purple that is true purple the ones I have been getting are looking more off-violet or is it I’m getting color blind in my old age.It may be the latter.

I think this is the perfect ink. I love purple and this is my absolute favorite shade. I also favor silver over gold and this looks like the perfect amount of shimmer to give depth to the color. I would be quite tickled to win, but am sure I’ll be buying this ink if I don’t.

I’m not sure if this is intriguing as Emerald de Chivor or even Caroube de Chypre, but I like it. It definitely wins over their earlier inks. Hopefully the silver particles don’t clog the pen.

the 1670 Emerald Chivor is great but I just now noticed the bottle has no label. looks like the 1798 has a label. Great inks.

Purple is my favorite color, but I haven’t yet settled on a purple fountain pen ink to use. Nor have I tried any shimmer inks; from what I’ve seen it would be lots of fun to use in a demonstrator pen and watch the particles swirl around.
