J. Herbin Orange Indien, Clairefontaine And A Giveaway

09/16/2014

The temperature is a blistering 100°F today, but I’m in the mood for fall. Time to break out some seasonally appropriate colors and at least pretend autumn is on its way.

In recognition of the alleged forthcoming change of seasons, Inkophile has a giveaway sponsored by Exaclair, U.S. distributor of J. Herbin and Clairefontaine. Interest piqued? Four lucky readers will receive a bottle of J. Herbin Orange Indien and a Clairefontaine Basics Duo (memo book). What a sweet deal!

Long a frequent visitor to my rotation, Orange Indien is happily mated this year to my Platinum #3776 Music Nib from Luxury Brands, LLC. Nothing shy about that duo and it is especially perfect on Clairefontaine.

To enter the giveaway, just post a comment and a sentence or two about how you would use your ink and pad. This offer is open to residents of the U.S. only. One entry per person with four random winners to be selected the first day of autumn, 9/22/2014, at 6pm PDT. Each winner will have until 9/30/2014 to respond. If not, a replacement winner will be selected. Fulfillment will be handled by Exaclair.

Thanks, Karen, for sponsoring the giveaway. You’re the best!

  13. Thanks so much for your wonderful blog. We are preparing for our annual Fall Festival in our town and my wife, who runs our local historical museum, has asked me to run a kids activity involving “old school” writing tools, especiall dip pens. I’ve got an assortment of Esterbrook nibs. I especially like the Jackson Stubs (#442).

It would be fun to have the kids write with the dip nibs using that gorgeous ink on the buttery smooth Clairefontaine paper.

I’d also bring my fountain pens and ink up my TWSBI Diamond 580 (1.1 stub) with the Orange Indien. A perfect way to ring in the fall season. Thanks for the idea.

  37. I don’t have any orange inks, yet! They’re a little bit out of my normal color set, and I just haven’t been into fountain pens long enough to acquire tons of samples, etc. That said, I’d probably keep a few pages in the front of the notebook blank to track my ink sampling, and then dive in to journaling or working on short stories. I’ve never used Clairefontaine paper either, so this would be a real treat.

  38. I do not currently have any orange colored inks, but I have been thinking about trying a few out. I use notebooks like crazy at work, keeping track of my Projects and making sure I do not forget anything important. Seems that I fill up a Large Rhodia style pad about every 2 weeks or so. I think the Orange ink would add to my collection and rotation very well, and the notebook would provide me with much needed writing materials as well!
