Looking Ahead To 2012

01/01/2012

What are you looking forward to in 2012? Post in the comments. I will come back as often as I can to moderate them since I can’t keep the spammers out unless I check every comment.

I’ll start. I’m looking for more products to review but for now only a few acquisitions. It would be nice to have another stub or italic nib on a quality pen that is easy to clean. Another Parker ’51’ Aero Standard with a medium-fine nib or stub would be fab, too. A bottle of Iroshizuku and a couple of Noodler’s would be good additions and expand my rotation. Pretty simple, eh?

If I had a windfall, a camera to take pen and ink photos would be high on my list as would a new computer but purchasing a pen or two is more likely. A sweet flex nib would be fun but getting a good one is a challenge so I’ll stick with the stubs and italics. They get daily use and are a better investment.

Your turn. What’s on your list?

  2. I would like to write a blog in fountain pen and upload it. I am new to a lot on computer. But I think clearer with a pen or a soft lead pencil. Have fine motor control problems. Would like a hypodermic to fill cartridges, as I have some good old pens and inks, but they are all 30 years old. Don’t know how to buy things online, but I’d like to try using my pilot vanishing point to see if I want to keep it or not. I bought it new with lead pencil in ’81. It may be the fine point, but I may not have tried it out correctly at the time. So figuring out the Pilot and loading cartridges is my hope for the new year. Happy New Year to you.

  4. In no particular order:

    — Getting my two P51’s that I inheirited from my late-father-in-law refurbed and working again.

    — A nice DSLR.

    — A red pen to hold red ink (maybe another No Nonsence, but we’ll see).

    — Another Hero 616 or maybe a Hero 100.

    — An interesting brown ink.

    • Parker ’51’ pens can be fantastic. Are they Vacs or Aeros? Gold nibs? If you have an Aero and the sac is intact, a good soaking might make it useful again.

  5. Both are vacs (with the plungers). There’s one more Parker (that came as part of pen & pencil set), that, AFAIK was never used, but I don’t know what model it is. But I do know that Irving actually used these two P51’s on a regular basis, so I’d like to get ’em restored first.
