New Diamine Ink Colors
07/23/2010Diamine Inks has announced the release of eight new colors:
- Twilight
- Asa Blue
- Red Dragon
- Syrah
- Oxblood
- Evergreen
- Green/Black
- Graphite
The swatches were posted today. Do any of them look destined for your ink collection?
I ordered all of them before the color swatches were even posted! The names are pretty descriptive and fit mostly what I envisioned. I especially look forward to Twilight, Oxblood, Evergreen, & Green/Black. It’s hard to tell from the swatch if Graphite will be any different from a typical grey/black, but I love brownish greys & hope this may fall into that category. Diamine inks are so well behaved! I’m sure they will all be fun.

by Tortoise 07/23/2010 at 6:30 pmWow, aren’t you adventurous. I look forward to your take on the new colors. If Diamine wants to send me samples, I’ll review them. Otherwise, my money is going toward inks I know I’ll like rather than gamble on inks I might not. Besides it’s not like I’ll run out of inks to review anytime soon. Heh!

Confused? “H” is trying to mock a recent post about online color representation. IME swatches posted by ink manufacturers like Diamine are more accurate than those posted by the rest of us so the joke kind of misses the mark anyway.
Even with mediocre representation, it is possible to see color relationships as my post explained. For that reason alone, you will continue to see swatches on Inkophile. However, you won’t find me claiming to have represented color accurately or perfectly. Someday I hope technology is up to that task. It just isn’t there yet.
BTW anonymous comments will not get approved in future. Capisce?

by inkophile 07/24/2010 at 3:49 pmIt looks like they are focusing on some darker colors compared to the rest of their ink selection – i wonder if the reds (red dragon?) may be in response to the success of J. Herbin’s anniversary ink?
Very exciting…wish I had a reason to buy more ink 🙂

by kates 07/27/2010 at 6:32 amYou are so dangerous (in such a good way)! 🙂 I just ordered Twilight, Syrah, Oxblood, Evergreen, and Green/Black, all in the smaller plastic bottles. I also ordered a small bottle of Sepia (I’m on a quest for a certain colour and don’t want to do ink mixing). Yay for free gifts of cartridges! 🙂

by inkophile 08/16/2010 at 10:28 amI had sent them an email some time ago about creating a custom green/black ink for our pen club but I never heard back so I was intrigued by name “green/black” when I read this post. Unfortunately, the swatch does not do anything for me so I guess I will have to continue to look for that perfect green/black combination. In the meantime, I will continue to rely on the MB Racing Green (that I have left) and the Sailor Tokiwa Mat LE Winter 2009 Evergreen.

by penagogy 08/22/2010 at 3:46 amIt is disappointing to learn there is another ink that could have been a replacement for MBRG but just isn’t right. Perhaps with enough demand, Montblanc will re-release it. Wouldn’t that make a lot of pen people happy!
