J. Herbin Larmes de Cassis10/11/2008
2008 has been a good year for new inks with all of my favorite brands introducing new colors. Whether through trades or by purchasing small quantities, I’ve been able to try quite a number of them. As is often the case, online swatches do not do the colors justice. One that turned out even better than expected is J. Herbin Larmes de Cassis.
Herbin is consistently good quality and Cassis no disappointment in that regard. The characteristics fall cleanly in line with my preferences. Good coverage and quick drying were expected but shading qualifies as a bonus. Outlining at least with a flexible nib was a delightlful surprise.
The color is a tiny bit more red and saturated than the swatch. Although certainly in the violet family, it isn’t feminine. Consequently, Cassis is versatile enough to add to my regular rotation and that is high praise indeed.
