My love of marginalia is one reason I loathe Kindles, Nooks and other digital ephemera. When they are obsolete in a year or two, the notes are lost. Yet I can glimpse insights into medieval man by perusing centuries old jottings.
Is disposable/deletable REALLY better?
Definitely not! I don’t think real books will ever die. My son’s interest in collecting vinyls proves it. I am assured my collection will get passed down and that is very heartening. My hundreds of books will meet a similar fate. Digital media will never be as cherished.
