Lamy Studio in Rubinblack
2009/02/26If ever there was a Lamy that could tempt me, the Rubinblack Studio is it. Amongst my pen friends the consensus is that the Studio would be too heavy for my hand. Phooey!
Isn’t this one gorgeous pen? Hard to find rich brown in pendom but Lamy has done it with style for around $100 just in case you like brown as much as I do.

Always liked Studio but hesitated as I have enough black & silver. This looks great. I hate you!
Glad to be of help.
I love my Lamy Studio, it was my first fountain pen. I have the blue version (lots of pictures in the review on my blog) but I like it so much that I’m considering getting the stainless steel version because of the rubber section/grip.
We agree on the rubber section. Not that I’d want to be accused of being an enabler but Swisher Pens has the stainless model for $60…
I just damaged my Studio. Best guess is that I put a pen on the other side of the pen case and when I closed it, (flap in the middle) the clip on the Studio pushed down and scraped the coating off the aluminum. Very peeved…. What’s the point of a 20 pen case if you can’t use the other side?
That sucks! Who made the case? Sounds like a good subject for a post on your blog.
The case is from Conway Stewart. And it has 4 Safari’s and an AL-Star in it which are all really fat. I slid a new pen in the opposite side of the case and I guess it was near/between the AL-Star and the Studio. The Studio lost. Gr.
Bad luck or bad design, pens ought be safe in a case regardless. At least the cap didn’t come off and spoil the nib. Now your Studio will look like a veteran but perform like a champ. Trying to think positive here…
Remember that scene in the original Slap Shot when the guy was beating up the side of the bus with a sledgehammer and Paul Newman asked what he was doing and his response was…. “Making it look mean”
Now my Studio looks mean.

A lean, mean writing machine. I like it!
I have a black Lamy Studio and it is a fantastic pen. The coating on the pen has very comfortable rubbery sort of a feel – so it never slips in your hand. The nib writes very well and the pen doesn’t skip or dry up easily. You should enter it onto the list for the pen fairy!
J M Pennifeather have just started selling the lamy swift rubin black rollerball pens and the new studio grey which looks great! http://www.jmpennifeather.co.uk
